Workshops for Youth
Our youth workshops provide opportunities for young people to draw out their own knowledge and to supplement this knowledge with honest information, enabling them to make their own choices. These workshops also engage young people in role plays and other dynamic activities, so that they leave the workshops not just with textbook knowledge, but with the experience of acting on that knowledge.

We currently offer the following workshops:
Anti-Homophobia:
Homophobia hurts us all - regardless of who we date. By demystifying terms in group discussions, young people gain awareness of homophobia in our communities and brainstorm creative responses to damaging stereotypes and ways to be allies.
Body Image:
With messages bombarding youth from all sides, how can anyone cultivate a positive body image? Using games and interactive discussion, we encourage youth to see the gender stereotypes and commercial interests behind the media's version of "ideal beauty."
Doctors, Clinics and Testing:
Every young person has the right to be healthy. This workshop incorporates a no-nonsense approach to health care access with fun exercises including skits and information on legal rights.
Clinics, Paps, and Paper Gowns is a specific version of this workshop covering topics such as the pelvic exam and is available for appropriate groups.
HIV 101 Game Show:
This high-energy workshop covers: basic definitions and information on transmission, testing, and harm reduction. A great starting point for further dialogue about young people's experience with HIV.
Self Esteem: My Body, My life, My Choices:
Your identity, your relationships, your body, your choices, your future! What is it that shapes a young person's self-esteem? Using creative exercises and interactive discussion, this workshop helps young people recognize the power they have to create positive connections with each other and to forge a stronger future for themselves. STDs and Safer Sex:
As the rates of sexually transmitted diseases rise among young people, so does the stigma for those who are infected. Instead of fear-based tactics, our safer sex message incorporates both the how and the why of protection for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation.
Substance Use & Harm Reduction:
Through small group work and facilitated discussion, we explore substance use in a non-judgmental way. We discuss the reasons why people use drugs, and how to make informed decisions to reduce the harm of any drug.
